By 1890 Capt. Peter Androvette was regarded as the most prominent citizen of the village of Kreischerville. He had been in charge of water transportation for the Kreischer brick firm and established his own towing and transportation company.  He also began developing properties in the community, including these four identical wood-frame double houses built near the brick works as rental units.
